Wendy Smooth
Women's Studies
Wendy G. Smooth (Ph.D. University of Maryland-College Park, 2001) is Assistant Professor of Women’s Studies and a faculty affiliate of the Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity. Her research and teaching focuses on women’s experiences in political institutions and the impact of public policies on women’s lives. She is currently working on a book entitled, Perceptions of Power and Influence: The Impact of Race and Gender on Legislative Influence, which examines the impact of race and gender on the distribution of power and influence in U.S. state legislatures.
