Page Numbering Landscaped Pages in Microsoft Word
In a document where most pages are set up as portrait (i.e., for regular
text), you may have a few landscaped pages (i.e., for wide tables or graphs).
In such a case, you need to move the page numbers on the landscaped pages
so that they will appear in the correct location on the document. To do
this, follow these steps:
- Insert the page numbers as you would normally (these directions are
for bottom-centered page numbers).
- Double click near the page number, and footer will appear.
- Point on the page number until four-pointed arrow appears.
- Right click, and then click on "Format Frame".
- Make the following changes:
- Change Horizontal "Position" from Center to 1", assuming
you want the page number to be one inch from the bottom of the page (you
will need to highlight "Center" and type over it, as 1"
is not an option in the drop-down menu).
- Change Horizontal "Relative to" from Margin to Page.
- Change Vertical "Position" from Bottom to Center.
- Change Vertical "Relative to" from Paragraph to Page.
- Click OK. Page will now be in the correct position on the left margin,
but the text will be facing the wrong way.
- With the page number still highlighted, go to the Format menu and click
on Text Direction.
- Click on the bottom right text orientation, and then click OK.
- Page number should now be in correct position.
