text files (fields
of data are separated by delimiters such as commas or tabs)

text files in the files of type box, and locate and open the desired
file.

steps to import the file. Click on the next button to proceed to
the next step, or click on back to go back to the previous step.
Click on cancel to exit the window.

Choose the original data
type by clicking on delimited. Adjust the row number from
which you want to start importing data if it is different from one.
Click on the next button.

Specify and click on the
type of delimiter(s) (e.g., comma, space) that separate the fields in your
data file. Click on next.

data format for your columns. (The default is general and

Make sure to save the
file as an excel file in the appropriate location.
2. Fixed width
text files (fields
of data are assigned to specific columns, and spaces separate each field)

Open Microsoft Excel.
Click on file and then open. Make sure that you specify
text files in the files of type box, and locate and open the desired
file.
