Course Web Pages
Personal Web Pages
When requesting space for a course page, include the course number and, if you are not the instructor for the course, the instructor's last name. The SRL makes a special template available for course pages that only requires text-editing skills. No HTML coding is required. Please contact the SRL if you are interested in this option. If you are interested in features beyond a simple presentation of the course summary, your contact information and links to handouts, the SRL recommends that you pursue development of a WebCT or Desire2Learn page, supported by TELR.
Your course page folder will be located at i:\classes\soc###\instructor, where soc### is the course number (e.g. soc101) and instructor is the instructor's last name.
To maintain the coherece of the web site, we recommend that you only store department course pages under the '\classes\' folder, and not under your personal web folder. If you wish to reuse a course page during a given quarter, please contact the SRL before the beginning of that quarter so that we can create a link to your page from the quarterly course web page listing.
Your course page folder will be located at i:\people\ini, where ini is your sociology username.
Access the document from a web browser using the URL "http://sociology.osu.edu/ini/" where ini is replaced with your initials.
Maintaining Your Page
Maintenance of your page can be handled by placing, editing and deleting files in your web page folder.
You can create subfolders to organize your files. You just have to specify the subfolder in your URL, so that a document called 'handout1.htm' in a folder called 'handouts' in your course page folder would be linked as follows:
If you want to work on your page but are not logged on to a department computer, you can access files on i: through the Sociology WebVPN interface. |
