Who is Prof. Alonzo?

Professor Alonzo received his doctorate from the University of California Berkeley. Prior to coming to The Ohio State University he served as research sociologists at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute of the NIH and taught at DePauw University in Indiana. At the The Ohio State University he has taught courses in medical sociology, symbolic interactionism and introductory sociology. His research and writing has focused on health and illness behaviors surrounding acute myocardial infarction. He is currently conducting a study of care-seeking during acute coronary syndromes [ACS] using a national sample. Study participants will be invited to complete a web based self-tailoring survey instrument. Results from this study will be used to design strategies to place individuals stricken with ACS under medical care as quickly as possible to prevent unnecessary morbidity and mortality.
