I am a PhD student at The Ohio State University. I was raised in Kansas, but am a Texan by choice. Besides my time in The Greatest City in America, I spent many summers in the beautiful Sangre de Cristo mountains of New Mexico. I highly recommend visiting my favorite area. In my spare time, I enjoy working out, playing racquetball, reading entertaining books, and exploring Columbus.
I am presently dissertating and working on various projects. My dissertation will look at immigrants and financial well-being, particularly wealth accumulation, using the New Immigrant Survey. In the fall, I completed my comprehensive examinations, focusing on Stratification and Methodology. I am also working on several projects that explore social processes underlying wealth accumulation. With my advisor, Professor Zhenchao Qian, I lead a working group studying Propensity Score Matching techniques, funded through the Initiative for Population Research. I am also working with Professor Pam Paxton. We are using latent growth curve techniques to explore women in politics both nationally and internationally.
