Alpha Kappa Delta
What is Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD)?
AKD is dedicated to the ideal of Anthropon Katamanthanein Diskonesein or "to investigate humanity for the purpose of service" (taken from the Handbook of United Chapters of Alpha Kappa Delta). AKD seeks to promote the development of scholastic and leadership skills within the framework of a national honor society and the department of Sociology.

History
Founded by Emory S. Bogardus in 1920 at the University of Southern California, AKD is an international honor society for undergraduate and graduate students. There are chapters in 7 different countries, and over 500 separate chapters worldwide. The Gamma Chapter in Ohio was chartered at The Ohio State University in 1929.
